I choose joy. I know I know, that sounds like self-help jargon. It is! :) My thoughts have been clouded not necessarily by negativity as much as a feeling of "whatever!". Usually, I have an endless amount of energy that will catapult me right out of doing nothing. Sometimes that energy will bring me into an amazing journey or a not well-thought out impulse. Due to certain circumstances, I don't have that energy anymore and now I am having to resort to flexing my willpower muscle to get things done, it is a lot harder. In my attempts to get my butt moving. I have even read multiple studies on how to harness willpower. I am unhappy to let you know that there is no quick way to have more willpower than to exercise it by doing it the old fashion way (making yourself do things whether you like it or not). But I did find this amazing book, The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg. It is loaded with many case studies regarding habit loops. What are they? What are your habit loops? and how you can change your habits to your liking to meet your goals.
Exercising my willpower and thinking about the science behind habits. I was able to become more productive than before in a sustainable way. I know for me, I would have a surge of energy and be really productive in a short period of time. This would eventually lead to recuperation time which means I am out of commission to do nothing but read or nap. I didn't want to spend my life in high and lows and only producing during my high times. I wanted to change my habits so I am able to produce in a way that is sustainable for a long period of time and avoid the toll on my body and brain.
Through this book. I learned to change corner (key) habits that will influence other habits in my life.
I recomend this book highly to anyone who wants to make a permenant change in their lifes and they don't even know where to start.
Let me know how it worked for you.
